Overview

Tokyo-based senior engineering role covering retail POS development, payment and peripheral integration, and client-facing technical coordination.

Responsibilities

• Gather and clarify client requirements in Japanese and translate them into clear business and technical specifications
• Design, develop and enhance POS applications covering transaction processing, payment integration and store operations
• Analyse POS platforms, peripheral interfaces and enterprise integration points and shape modernisation options
• Support onsite implementation, debugging, incident analysis and reliable production operation
• Lead technical coordination, reviews and knowledge transfer with distributed engineering teams
• Contribute engineering input to proofs of concept, customer demonstrations and technical proposals

Requirements

• 5+ years of POS software development, implementation or technical consulting experience in retail
• Hands-on Java SE 8+ development and a strong understanding of POS workflows and store operations
• Experience integrating payments and peripherals such as printers, scanners and cash drawers
• Familiarity with OPOS or JavaPOS and IBM 4690 OS, ACE or an equivalent enterprise POS platform is preferred
• C or C++, cloud-native architecture, microservices or REST API experience is advantageous
• Business Japanese at JLPT N2-equivalent or above and working English for distributed-team coordination; applicants are assessed on capability, not nationality
